LSA – Legal Services Agency

Legal Services Agency is a charity and law centre with a particular focus on providing advice and representation to people who may otherwise find it difficult to get legal advice. We advocate for human rights and empowerment through sharing knowledge and promoting awareness of legal remedies in all communities. We believe that everyone is entitled to specialist legal advice when they need it and to have the right expert on their side when things go wrong.

We provide legal advice and representation during initial case work, tribunals, and court proceedings across the following areas of specialism:

  • Housing: defending evictions, repossessions, and assisting people with unsuitable or no accommodation.
  • Mental health: advice, assistance, and representation to people with mental ill health. Issues include financial exploitation, housing, community care or compulsory treatment and detention.
  • Criminal injuries: we can help victims of violent crime with claims for compensation. This includes historic and complex cases, reviews and appeals, and victims of unjust criminal convictions.
  • Employment: we represent clients who have been subject to discriminatory employment practices and guide them on all aspects of employment law.
  • Benefits: we work with voluntary sector partners to challenge unfair welfare benefit decisions.
  • Disability Discrimination: defending and advancing legal rights of disabled people with a particular focus on challenging disability discrimination.
  • Legal Education: As a registered CPD provider, we take a leading role in providing innovative legal education through seminars, conferences workshops and webinars.
